The annual Philadelphia Planned Giving Day offers an excellent opportunity to learn about important trends in philanthropy while also gaining new insights into enriching our efforts with benefactors, clients and colleagues. This year’s theme will be “Pathways to Legacy Giving.” Planned Giving Day provides an opportunity for professionals at all levels to enhance their skill set, to collaborate with others in the field and to gain inspiration from the collective efforts we all bring to enrich our shared communities. As an affiliate of the national Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, their mission is to increase the quality and quantity of charitable planned gifts by serving as the premier professional resource for the gift planning community. Join TIAA Kaspick’s Tim Prosser for his session:
A Complex Gift Case Study
We will discuss a life income gift that was funded by a generous couple with family, financial, and philanthropic objectives. Issues include gifts of real estate, as well as self-dealing and UBTI in the context of a charitable remainder trust. Slowly, we will reveal the facts of the case and discuss the problems that needed to be (and were successfully) resolved by our client. Developing a deeper understanding of complex assets can lead to significant gifts and expanded relationships with your key donors.
